Marcin Surzycki was born in 1963. He finished the Print Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow where he is a professor now. He won Grand Prix at the all-Polish Print Biennial “Towards Value” (1990) and at the Polish Print Triennial in Katowice (2003). He also got the Special Award of the International Print Triennial in Cracow (2003) and the Statutory Awards of the International Print Exhibition in Frechen (Germany,1990,1996). He took part in numerous group exhibitions. He practises his own intaglio technique and serigraphy.
The artist had two individual exhibitions in Jan Fejkiel Gallery so far. He also took part in collective shows organised by the gallery, i.a.: Jan Fejkiel Gallery Collection, The Institute of Polish Culture, Stockholm 19991; The Ironic Portrait, the State Gallery (1993, Cracow, Kielce, Łódż), Forum Ost-West (1994, Bergisch Gladbach); The Element and the Method, Galerie de la C.G.E.R. (1996, Liege), Centrum Manggha (1997, Cracow); Beyond the Passe-Partout, New Spaces in Print, JFG (2006, Cracow); Visible/ Invisible, Turchin Center for Visual Arts, (2012/13 Boone NC, USA).
